About me

Where it all began…

Growing up I loved to dress up with my sister using the huge basked of 80’s clothes we had in the rumpus room of my childhood home (think shoulder pads and hot pink heels). I created loads of different characters and played for hours on end, so no surprises that when I left school I pursued an acting career.

With 15 years experience as an actor in front of the lens, I bring a deep understanding of how daunting being captured can feel.

I create comfort and ease throughout the entire process, particularly during your session so that at times you will even forget the camera is there!

The full backstory…

My passion behind the camera all started 7 years ago when I was Captain Starlight. A role I look back on fondly, where I dressed up as a super hero and hung out with sick kids in hospital. We made videos that kids wanted to direct and star in that were played back on the in-house television program for the whole hospital to see. When those kids felt free, happy, creative and a little bit famous (being on tv and all), that’s when I knew I wanted to support others and their vision for the rest of my life.

I would take photos during events in the Starlight room and I have been capturing special moments ever since!

After this incredible role I went on to work in a newborn studio capturing babies that were sometimes only days old. It was a magical experience where I met with families and learnt about their desires for the overall aesthetic of their family portraits. Oftentimes families would bring in heirlooms such as Navy or Army pins, traditional Ngā taonga tuku iho - Māori dress, ceremonial Scottish kilt or various items that belonged to those who are no longer with us but their item represents an important ancestral connection.

I have spent a number of years working in a women’s hospital where I foster relationships with various patients and have the special privilege of sharing their story through photography in order to create awareness and raise vital funds to provide lifesaving equipment and resources. It is never lost on me that I meet incredible women, babies and their families that allow me to share their intimate, personal stories, filled with hardships, setbacks and triumphs.

My passion truely lies in getting to know each person in front of my lens.

It is an honour and a privilege to share with you the vulnerable and intimate vibe of a photography session and my mission is to make sure that you feel excited, ready and comfortable!
